Kurtz and the Elephant Stabbing
Marlowe is romanced by the way of life in Africa. He finds it strange that there are human heads surrounding Kurtz's hut. Marlowe thinks they're all elements of first, but on closer inspections he realizes they are human heads. The Russian man confides in Marlowe and tells him that Kurtz was actually the one who ordered the attack on the steamship in the fog. His plan was to put them off and make them assume that Kurtz had died.
