The Risk of Super Volcanic Eruptions
The risk of extinction from super volcanoes is something like one in 200 of this century. But that probably wouldn't kill us, as evidenced by the fact that we have survived two thousand centuries so far. The main mechanism for causing axetential risk is vire a kind of nuclear winter, volcanic winter, or asteroid winter. And interestingly, for all three cases, it is a form of climate change and mediated by atmospheric science.
