I was 20 years old when i got to china and immediately began so of familiarizing myself with that willd our classmates were a select group of foreign students. But late when i went to shanghai and then in shin yang, we had selected politically approved chinese classmates. Now these were all former red guards, the real deal, people who'd grown up under the red flag as it was called. And they had been part of the high school rebellion of 66, 67, 68.
