Salumbine De Adam's Controversy on the Experiment of XIV
According to Salumbine de adam, emperor frederick performed experiments. He was a franciscan monk and staunch supporter of the catholic church. But he never actually knew or even met frederick so his account seems dubious. It's more likely than not that i'd say it's fiction - but I'm not confident. And we don't know if any one would have considered such an experiment.
