The Different Punishments for Marital Rape
In the past, raping a married woman who is not your spouse was probably considered worse than raping an unmarried woman. Some states punish marital rape less harshly than other rape crimes. The punishment can be less if the crime causes less harm because of the nature of the victims. For example, Jack Cavorkian was convicted of second-degree murder for euthanizing a man with ALS but only served 8 years in prison.
