The Most Famous Buildings of All Time

This week, our special architecture section looks back at some of the most famous buildings ever architectured. What could have been done better with the so-called masterpieces of the architectural arts? The great Pyramid of Giza may well have been the tallest man-made structure in the world for almost 4,000 years but wouldn't it have been better if it had been a little bit more useful? St Paul's Cathedral is thought to be down to its famous dome being covered in lead and notoriously impermeable. A retractable perspex roof would have resulted in an estimated increase of 37.6% in terms of the number of prayers getting through to God.
