Real estate is inherently less risky than stocks. It's a basic need, it's something that every single person in this world needs. You get things like mortgage interest, tax deductions and bal outs if you can't pay your mortgage. The government will actually go after banks if they're predatory on people who get mortgages or take loans out on properties. Over the long run, real estate tends to increase in values, where it's usually ahead of inflation.
