Pakistan's Impeachment
Pakistan was indicted on security spread charges, then accused of persuading investors to buy stock in a tech firm without disclosing that he would be compensated. The criminal case against him connected to that initial indictment is still ongoing. Pakistan reached a settlement agreement with those whistleblowers that totaled $3.3 million. But since Pakistan is a public official, that money had to be taxpayer dollars. And it had to be approved by state lawmakers in the budget. Lawmakers rejected that request, but they say that him asking for that money required them to conduct an investigation into the conduct behind the lawsuit.
