A Memoir of a Murder
Killer had fled after carrying out the attack, unaware that peter was still alive. He sustained severe damage to part of the brain responsible for higher order functions such as perception, decision making and language. Part of his brain that would otherwise perceive his injured state was too damaged to function properly. So even when he stared at his cave din skull in the bathroom mirror and began cleaning up his own dripping blood, peter was unable to comprehend that he needed urgent medical attention. His brain was still functioning in some capacity, allowing him to carry out his morning routine on instinct alone,. until he succumbed to blood loss.
