The History of the Philosophical Transactions
Before the publication of the philosophical transactions, we were talking about privileged learned men exchanging their ideas in letters. So this material that we're looking at today was sent, hopefully, for publication and the philosophical transactions over all periods. We have a sign of how some of these communications in this discourse was about anything that people were curious about. I believe that's a picture of a cheese press. And these older examples of the kinds of papers that were being sent in range from the highly scientific, to the synthesis of Sir Isaac Newton's papers on light and colours.
