Is There a Need for Echoes in the Hospital?
Most of the time we're looking for aortic stenosis, at least in my experience. So how often are we ordering these right now though? It really depends on the study you look at. A more recent study from 2018 that kind of looked at all admissions with a diagnosis of syncope and they use the nationwide inpatient sample database. And the rates are actually far lower.
