The answer to that question is all based around a cable contracts. So if c n n wants to be able to reach people who pay for cable, they need some other way of doing it. They can't just re purpose the existing cn content. This is why it took so long for all the other media companies to get into the streaming business. It's precisely because they were making so much money from cable that they couldn't understand how it made sense to try and take that away.
