What Attracted You to Philosophy?
I came into it through literature and insomnia. I used to have trouble insomnia when I was young and a teenager. So I just used to spend a lot of time thinking. And, you know, we studied hamlets at A-level because there was no philosophy in my school. We didn't really read people like MacIntyre or any of the kind of cave-ish Platonists or theologians until a lot later. Spinoza is obviously a heretic from the standpoint of the church. But I think partly because I was brought up in a slightly pagan way,. You know, my parents are very into nature and I grew up in the countryside.
