There's a scene where Lydia is teaching a conducting class. She gets in an argument with the student who is conducting a very atonal piece by a modern female composer. And she declares war on the atonal quite conveniently because the piece of music that she's torpedoing is by another woman who's very celebrated. The problem with enrolling yourself as an ultrasonic epistemic dissident is that if box talent can be reduced to his gender, birth country, religion, sexuality, and so on, then so can yours.
