I think the single most arguably, the single most pernicious message in American life is this idea that for one of their term middle-class values, bourgeois values, traditional idea, however you want to phrase it, is a white thing. The Protestant work ethic, frankly the Jewish work ethic of work hard, be honest dealings, meet expectations, all these kinds of things.
