Facebook's Safe Harbor Against Data Transfer Between EU and US
This can be traced back I thought 10 years pre-GDPR implementation. Back to 2013 and the Snowden leaks. There needs to be adequate protections in place to keep US intelligence out of that data. Thursday's ruling says the block's national data authorities can override the 15-year-old safe harbor pact, used by around 4,500 companies.
