The Box Model - I Need Space
You have an image, then you have that padding piece and then you have the frame of the actual photo. The margin is the space between those elements. If you were to lay out like a gallery view, you'd outline where you place it on the wall. That doesn't actually affect your content itself, but there's different light casting different types of shadows.
