The Cost of Yep Securities

On average, the margins are 3.6%. If you weighted by the size of the insurance, if you have volume weight, then the fee is going to be 6%. Still a number that is significantly higher than what investors typically pay for, the index fund. Yeps tend to have shorter maturity, particularly the ones in my sample. And I also find that the big determinant of the cost is the maturity of the security.

Felix Fattinger is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Vienna Graduate School of Finance whose research focuses on complexity from a number of perspectives. Petra Vokata is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Ohio State University, currently working in areas of household finance, financial innovation, and consumer financial protection.
