Darcy saw a figure in the edmonson's coldesac gently pacing towards her. She thought for a fleeting moment she almost saw a face in the moonlight, but not quite. The whistler raised his hand toward her, arm fully outstretched, then swung it back toward the top of the hill. It inclined its head that way, whistley, do de do da. Darcy ran up the as fast as she could, hearing the soft but relentless melody in between her rasping breath. When she reached the north end of the loop, she swerved right, only to suddenly stop.
