Gay men tend to have an excess number of older brothers relative to heterosexual men on average. The fraternal birth order effect is hypothesized to result from this increasing immune response to the Y chromosome, certain proteins that are associated with the Y chromosome. But just because a man has more older brothers doesn't necessarily mean he is necessarily gay or just because he's a first born child, he can't be gay.
