Faust is the eponymous character in gerta's play who sells hi soul to the devil for knowledge and pleasure. Faust searches for an end to knowledge, yearning for a coast in the wide waste of the ocean of knowledge. For socrates, this theoretical outlook to lif you know, life as a means of knowledge, that's a promise and a way to the good life. The story of faust, meanwhile, is the story about the limits of a life of knowledge seeking.
