Avian influenza, often called bird flue, has been spreading across the world. It's particularly strongly in america in recent months. So blank park zoo is keeping its birds indoors so they aren't at risk of infection. When it is contracted, the way to eradicate the virus is to depopulate flocks. That's a polite way of saying, kill the birds.
