Commitment Devices - Are You Overcomplicating Things?
Ryan Eagle: We can over commit in our commitment devices. In that preemptive mode where cooler heads are supposed to prevail, we may commit our future self to actions that are actually unnecessarily difficult or austerities that are really harsh and maybe they have unintended consequences. So when you are making commitments for your future self, please don't forget to be kind and reasonable to your future self.
