The History of the KLV Camps in Germany
From 1940 onwards, the camps for the older children started to be run by the Hitler youth. There was quite a lot of ideological indoctrination alongside normal school teaching. Not all that many children took part and parents often organised their own private evacuation schemes if they could. Jeff Chappell had spent years lobbying for this national path. He's feeling emotional as he's spent decades working on the project.
