The most complicated part of faster technically is the mocking because you need to know a lot of concepts. But on the idea level, it's not so complicated. Once you get that click moment in your head, you will realize that it's all pretty simple. It also took a long time for me before I realized what I'm actually doing when I'm testing something. So I think this learning experience is there for everyone and they have to do it for themselves.
