Do Fish Feel Pain?
Fish are sufficiently different from us when we see them swimming about. We don't tend to ascribe any of the states that we ourselves experience. Yet, fish have pain receptors, they have brains. Their behaviours are quite simple. But the ability to feel pain and to suffer is arguedly the most fundamental of all emotional states because it's about self preservation. So there are very good reasons to at least peremptorily think about if we understand how human pain arises.
