The Importance of Trade Unions in the Environment
I live a contradiction on trade unions. I recognize the need to fight for data work and conditions. On the other hand, I'm quite skeptical about their potential in places like the UK. We can really only strike where there's not much else that unions can do without breaking the law. And it's very hard to get rank and file unionists to do anything more, you know, than to break the laws. So we're often reactive. We react to deteriorations of our conditions. It's important to understand this, especially for people in the US who might look with envy on how many trade unions there are in Britain.
