The Battle of Zaditsyn
Stalingrad has only been called Stalingrad since 1925. It's a much older town called Zaditsyn and industrialized massively in the late 1920s, early 1930s. The Volga is so significant that Germans long defined by their river border are thinking about this as a final frontier into the Soviet Union proper. They want to get their homes on the black gold of the Caucasus now.
