"We got to help each other. Yes, try to find professional help," she says. "But if it's not currently available, just turn to the person next to you." She has trained as a peer specialist - which is a free training and can be found in 40 states. It costs $20-30 an hour here in Los Angeles; there are scholarships for those who have lived experience with mental health or addiction.
