Each time you make a semicuctor, it's now thousands of steps. So actually making a chip could take months because of all these different steps that go on. Each step is filled with extremely intense physics, chemistry and engineering. And sometimes there's a lot of very random won off suppliers. There are real places where it breaks down and it's a legitimate shortage problem.
