Balboa was born in Heres de los Caballeros, Spain, in 1475. Balboa joined Vasco Núñez's expedition with the intention of making himself some money. Bastidas would have needed to get food and supplies as he explored the area. The next few years are a little murky but it is that Balboa remained in East Pañola.
