The Failure of the British Government to Defang Native Leaders

In 1934, actually early 1934, the British have all this network of spies and Jamaica. They're listening to these men who are preaching about this new black God and King and the Christ returned. This becomes the basis for a charge of sedition against two of the most prominent leaders at the time, the Howard and Robert Hines. And so in that sense, the British government played an important part in facilitating the growth and the development of arrested people despite what they thought they were doing, which was exterminating them.
