The Future of Cyberpunk

A lot of cyberpunk is about human augmentation and human identity, which is exactly what Blade Runner is dealing with. If you're writing near future science fiction, I think you need to be aware of what cyberpunk was talking about because if you aren't, you're going to have trouble being part of the dialogue in the discussion. Snow Crash postulates that all cities will eventually be owned by corporations.
