Brazil's First Woman President
Lula began working at the Villaras Metal Works in Sao Paulo. He gained national attention for campaigning for wage increases. After being released, he was elected as a politician for Sao Paulo in 1986. In 2002 Lula won with 61.5% of the vote to become Brazil's president. His aims included ending corruption and helping the economy. However, after leaving office his successor Dilma Rusef was involved in scandal. She was impeached and removed from office due to misusing national money. With Lula unable to run in the 2018 election, Jaya Bolsonaro was able to win that election. We'll talk more about this later.
