Athelstan, King of the Anglo Saxons

No king had ever truly been king of all the anglo saxons, despite the title. But now that was about to change. Athelstan would soon complete the work begun by his father and he would thereby become the first true king of the angloSaxon kingdom. The one original anglo saxon kingdom which had eluded his father was northumbria. There is little doubt that athelstan coveted northumbria if he really wanted to be king ofAll england. He then launched an invasion of york and drove out the viking leaders.
