A Druid cluster is a distributed system. It's comprised of many different types of nodes and actually each node is designed to do a particular set of things very well. Also there's nodes which are dedicated for coordination and load balancing. There are nodes that are dedicated particularly for historical data and there are nodes which are Dedicatedparticularly for real time or streaming data.
