Is There a Separation of State and Marriage?

I think we believers in individual liberty and free markets tend to have this sort of knee jerk response sometimes where we say well just get government out of it and the problem will be solved. I wouldn't say so much that I've changed my mind as that I have been persuaded that things aren't as simple as I had once thought. All you're doing is is postponing the inevitable moral argument by saying well let the get the government out of  it and people can solve their own problems.
