The Supreme Court Decision in United States v. Caldwell
Earl decided to appeal and the Times, I think it's fair to say, was not happy about that. At first, everything seemed to be going well for Earl and his legal team. Lo and behold, the Court of Appeals agreed with Earl and ruled that he didn't even have to appear before the grand jury. And so the government appeals? Yes. The government seeks review in the Supreme Court. But at the same time, there are these other cases, winning their way through the courts.
