The Root of Perfectionism
The root of perfectionism is pride. It'sn especially ugly, especially insidious, especially self absorbed kind of pride. Perfectionism drives us to try and shape ultimate meaning in our own strength, with our own poor resources. While ideals invite us to place ourse and our gifts at his disposal for the sake of a purpose higher than our own. A love and sacrifice always point outward, but perfect perfectionism points inward. The only way for me to fully recognize their loathsome presence and influence in my own life is to call a spade a spade,. or, as elizabeth elliot would say, a bloody hoe ah.
