What Is a Defence?
We all have defences. Defences can take many forms, but they are all the ways that we protect ourselves from things that we feel like we can't handle. The goal with therapy or any kind of mental health practice is not to strip us of our defences,. But generally, our defences are created at a time in our life when we don't have a lot of choices. And by doing that, we have the power to change it. We can let go of the defences that are not serving us. We can adopt new defences that will protect us better.
