The Importance of Amnesty International in the Transfer of Prisoners of Conscience
Amnesty International intervened on your behalf to get you out of prison. Was that intervention something that helped change your views on Western values or what role did that play in your transfer? There's a very beautiful man who is currently, I think in his early 90s, his name is John Cornwall. He was a local Buckingham Amnesty activist in the UK and he started a letter writing campaign. And somehow this man managed to eventually get Amnesty International globally to adopt us as prisoners of conscience. It became a global amnesty campaign. We weren't charged nor accused of any violence. But it did help us that it meant that I can now sit here 20 years later and say, we were prisoners of conscience
