Soto: In the western world that they've come from, everything's so utterly meaningless. So it can't relieve and be an apathy, ecause there's nothing there to relieve being apathetic against. I think of it like more like saint augustine, right? This is who came to christianity. It the end of a very long process of introspection, intellectually and morally. And i don't think something exactly happens like that with francois but it doesn't exactly not happen.
