One of the reasons I think games are so engaging in comparison to real life is they naturally create an environment that is more apt to getting us into like a super flow state. And when you're in this state of flow, you lose a sense of time, you losing a sense of self, you become quite happy. You also become pretty unhappy when you get interrupted and out of flow.
