The Benefits of Fever
A first fever is preserved evolutionarily. Creatures who have evolved to experience fever have generally maintained the ability to experience fever. The preservation of fever is important to recognize, because it has costs too. Every time you increase the temperature, you're increasing the metabolic rate.
