More than half a million Austrians have signed a petition calling for a referendum on the constitutional entrindment of the right to unlimited cash payments. In Austria, 50% of all transactions are still conducted in cash - far above the European average of about 30%. Germans are also against digital transactions, with just 9% saying they would use mobile payments.
