The number one thing that decides whether or not somebody will intervene in an emergency situation is their self confidence. "There's lots that we can do to make somebody believe that, you know, t they will be successful," says Gaas. The first reaction is hope versus despair and putting things within the positive helps people feel a lot more hopeful.
