The Importance of Mummification in Egyptomania

Mummification leads us directly into one of the major themes that you explore in the exhibition. So often the iconography that was or has been used as sources of inspiration by non-Egyptian makers of Egyptomania objects is often sourced from funerary objects. And those funerary objects obviously have a spiritual and religious association to them which is problematic. But I know with the heart scarab specifically for instance as like leading into the broader reason of why I kind of wove this story into the show.
