The Synthetic Derivative: A Mirror Image of the Electronic Health Record

We identified potential lupus deliveries using a validated and published algorithm that we had developed. We also randomly selected 250 of those controls for chart review to ensure they didn't have autoimmune disease. Since both lupus and control mothers could contribute multiple pregnancies, we did conduct some additional sensitivity analyses in which we only analyzed the first pregnancy if there were multiple pregnancies. For modeling we also constructed a generalized estimating equation or a GEE to account for the correlation between kind of multiple pregnancies per patient.
