Is the Labor Market Competitive?
The presumption that labor markets were competitive to be so interesting, because i always think it's fascinating when the things we completely take for granted that turn out to be completely wrong. We have observed labor share value are that as significantly drop in the united states in the last 20 or 30 years. There there are some papers which try to look at this issue directly, and they find low elasticities, surprisingly low elasticity, for unskilled workers. In fact, there's one paper that looks at amazon turk workers who just get sort of random questions and things, and they get paid by the u.S. government.
