Flood risk rises as people surge into vulnerable regions
Nature Podcast
Nature, Human Behavior, and Smoky Skys
Researchers have found that smoke from wild fires causes the formation of large numbers of new water droplets inside clouds. Scientists flew a research aircraft threw the clouds and smoke plumes over wild fires in the western us, gathering data on the size and distribution of airbon particles. These smoky clouds are expected to reflect more light and produce less rain than clouds in clean air; may cause other more complex effects due to the warming impact of the smoke itself. Take a look at that paper in full.
